Open Water Swimming Coached Sessions Available – Ellesmere, Shropshire

Hi all

I hope you are all well and finding ways of filling your time away from the pool. I have included you in this mailing list as you have either booked pool sessions with me previously or your child came to Mallorca with me on Swim Camp last summer and participated in some Open Water swim training.

Over the last few months, I have been working with Shropshire Council to secure the use of The Mere, in Ellesmere, Shropshire for coached Open Water sessions. The Mere is a beautiful site, the water is generally underused, as it does not allow swimming unless with an approved group or event and all kayak/paddleboard users need to hold a license for use.

I am so excited to say that I have now been approved to deliver coached sessions from Saturday 4th July 2020. I will be offering 1 hour coached sessions and will be coaching from a kayak on the water alongside the swimmer/s and have first aid trained spotters on the shore. All relevant risk assessments have been completed and approved. We will be working in line with the Government Covid-19 guidance in relation to group size and social distancing.

I am able to offer these sessions at £45 per hour for up to 5 swimmers. I am happy to coach from 1 – 5 swimmers in any of these sessions. Swimmers will need to be able to swim a minimum of 400m without stopping, be of a similar ability, and have a wetsuit available for use, as the water will be much colder than the pool. You will need to book in advance and provide all relevant information for the participants. Health screening forms will be required to be completed and submitted 24 hours prior to the session.

If you would like me to add you to the mailing list for open water sessions, please let me know. I know many of you have been asking about pool 1-2-1 sessions, at the moment, the timescales associated to this is unknown, but I will let you know once I am happy and allowed to go ahead with this.
