City of Birmingham Open Meet – Update

Hi everyone

Well the weekend is nearly here so I’m sending some final information
for Coaches, parents, swimmers and Team Managers. Please forward this
email to all in your club who need to see it.

Firstly, thank you for joining us for the first City of Birmingham
Swimming Club Open Meet for a few years. The organising team have been
working really hard over the last few weeks and months to bring you this
gala, so we hope that you enjoy it.

The car park at the pool is fairly small, so we have had to restrict
parking there to officials and organisers, and of course our
photographer and shop. For everyone else there is a drop off zone at the
front part of the car park for swimmers, and we have then arranged a
discounted rate of £3.50 per day at Broadway Plaza, Ladywood Middleway,
B16 8LP. By using the code 2483 when you are leaving the car park you
will get the special discounted rate.

I’ve attached some useful information – a map of the pool showing where
all the teams will be seated (there will be signs up in the pool as
well), and a copy of the warm up schedule as well.

Please swimmers do not bring chairs for on the poolside, as we are not
allowed to have any chairs on poolside at this venue.

Warm ups will be for 1 hour at 9am and 1pm both Days. There will be a
swim down break of approximately 15 minutes half way through each
session, and swim down will be allowed at the end of each session.

Coaches packs will be available from the medals desk on poolside at the
start of the meet. Coaches passes include a bacon roll, lunch and
refreshments. Full details will be in the coaches packs. Coaches are
asked to wear their passes at all times – these will be in the packs.

Medals will be presented from the medals desk on poolside after the
results for each event are finalised and announced. Please encourage
your swimmers to collect their medals as soon as possible after the
event to avoid congestion around the medal table.

Finally, if there are any officials out there who are able to help out,
especially in the afternoon sessions, it would make things a bit easier
for us. We provide free parking on site, a polo shirt and drinks bottle,
breakfast and lunch and a gift to take home. Plus expenses if you are
officiating without a swimmer present. Please click on the link below if
you can help. We are especially in need of a few more J1’s.

Other than that I hope so see you at some time over the weekend, please
let me know if you have any comments, good or bad, as we are always
looking to improve the quality of galas.

Best wishes.
